Team roles in CS2: entry, support, lurker, AWP and IGL
Which roles exist in CS2 team play, what each one does and how to pick yours.
In an organized team, every player has a job. Even in matchmaking, understanding roles helps you play more coordinated.
📌 Main roles
Entry — goes into the site first, takes or trades the opening kill. Needs good aim and confidence.
Support — throws utility for the team, flashes before entries, trades the entry player. Knows lineups.
Lurker — plays apart from the team, gathers info, catches rotations and hits from behind.
AWPer — gets the opening kill from distance and holds key lines.
In-game leader (IGL) — picks tactics, decides where to go and manages the team economy.
🎯 How to choose
You like to shoot first and have confident aim — entry.
You know many grenades and like helping — support.
You stay calm alone and read the enemy well — lurker.
You are strong at single shots and patient — AWP.
You see the whole round and like to talk — IGL.
⚠️ Tip
Even without roles, agree at least on who goes first and who trades them. That is already better than five players going in one by one.
