How to lower high ping in CS2

Ping is the time it takes data to reach the server and come back. The lower it is, the faster the server sees your actions.

📌 What ping is normal

• under 30 ms — great;

• 30–60 ms — good;

• 60–100 ms — playable but noticeable;

• above 100 ms — serious delay.

🔧 What to do

• Use a cable. Wi-Fi almost always means higher ping and spikes.

• Stop downloads: Steam, torrents, Windows updates, cloud drives.

• Check other users on your network: 4K video or downloads on another device raise your ping.

• Restart your router — especially if it has been running for weeks.

• Pick nearby servers. For matchmaking: Settings → Game → Max Acceptable Matchmaking Ping — set 50–80.

🖥️ Reset the network in Windows

Open Command Prompt as administrator and run:

ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset

Then restart your computer.

🎯 If nothing helped

• Check the ping to the server with ping IP in Command Prompt. If it is high there too, the problem is with your ISP.

• Contact your ISP and describe the issue: time, ping, spikes.

⚠️ Keep in mind

No "ping reducer" program can shorten the physical distance to a server.
