Even perfect game settings will not help if Windows spends resources on background tasks. These steps are safe and need no third-party tools.

🔧 1. Game Mode

Settings → Gaming → Game Mode → On. Windows will prioritize the game.

⚡ 2. Power plan

  • Control Panel → Power Options → choose "High performance".

  • On Windows 11: Settings → System → Power → Power mode → Best performance.

📌 3. Disable extras

  • Settings → Gaming → Xbox Game Bar — turn it off if you do not use it.

  • Settings → Gaming → Captures — disable background recording.

  • Remove unnecessary startup apps: Task Manager → Startup.

🎯 4. Graphics preference for CS2

  • Settings → System → Display → Graphics.

  • Add cs2.exe and choose "High performance" — especially important on laptops with two GPUs.

🖱️ 5. Mouse

Mouse settings → Additional mouse options → Pointer Options — untick "Enhance pointer precision".

⚠️ What not to do

  • Do not use registry "boosters" and "cleaners" — they often break the system.

  • Do not disable Windows Defender completely — adding the CS2 folder to exclusions is enough.
