Monitor stuck at 60 Hz instead of 144 in CS2: how to fix
Why a gaming monitor only shows 60 Hz in CS2 and how to enable 144, 165 or 240 Hz: Windows, cable, port, driver and in-game settings.
A very common situation: you bought a 144 or 240 Hz monitor, but it runs at 60 Hz. The difference in smoothness is huge, so check this first.
🔧 1. Windows setting
Settings → System → Display → Advanced display.
Under "Choose a refresh rate", pick the highest value.
🖥️ 2. CS2 setting
Settings → Video → Refresh Rate — choose the same maximum value. Use fullscreen mode.
🔌 3. Cable and port
Connect the monitor via DisplayPort or HDMI 2.0 or newer. An old HDMI cable can cap you at 60 Hz.
Use the cable that came with the monitor.
Plug into the graphics card, not the motherboard.
📌 4. Driver and GPU panel
Update your graphics driver.
In the NVIDIA Control Panel: Display → Change resolution → pick the highest refresh rate.
🎯 5. Monitor menu
Some monitors require enabling a high refresh mode or overclock in their own menu.
⚠️ How to check
Open a refresh rate test site (e.g. testufo.com) — it shows your actual refresh rate.
