CS2 update stuck or not downloading: fix
What to do if a CS2 update in Steam is stuck at 0%, downloads very slowly or shows an error.
Sometimes a CS2 update gets stuck, especially on big patch days. It is usually fixed in a few steps.
🔧 1. Clear the download cache
Steam → Settings → Downloads.
Click Clear Download Cache and confirm.
Steam restarts; log in again and start the update.
📌 2. Change download region
In Settings → Downloads → Download Region, pick the server closest to you. If it is overloaded, try a neighboring one.
🖥️ 3. Restart
Fully exit Steam (Steam → Exit) and start it again.
Restart your router and PC.
💾 4. Disk space
Installing an update needs free space — sometimes more than the patch size. Free up 20–30 GB on the game's drive.
🛡️ 5. Antivirus and VPN
Turn off your VPN.
Temporarily pause your antivirus and see if the download starts.
⚠️ If it says "Corrupt files"
Steam → right-click CS2 → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. If it keeps happening, check your drive for errors with Windows tools.
