Connection errors are caused by the server, your network or game files. Go through the steps in order — usually the first three are enough.

🔧 1. Quick checks

  • Make sure the server is online and has free slots.

  • Try connecting via the console:

connect IP:PORT
  • If you got disconnected, use retry.

📌 2. Restart

  • Fully close CS2 and exit Steam (Steam → Exit), then start again.

  • Restart your router.

🛡️ 3. Firewall and antivirus

  • Allow cs2.exe and steam.exe in Windows Defender Firewall → Allow an app through firewall.

  • Add the game folder to your antivirus exclusions.

🖥️ 4. Network reset

Command Prompt as administrator:

ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset

Restart your PC.

📁 5. Verify files

Steam → right-click CS2 → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.

🎯 Common errors

  • Connection timed out — the server does not respond: it is offline or your traffic is blocked.

  • Server is full — no free slots, wait or choose another server.

  • Steam connection lost — a problem on Steam's side. Check Steam service status and try later.

⚠️ VPN

VPNs and proxies often break server connections. Turn them off before playing.
