Microphone not working in CS2: how to fix
Why teammates cannot hear you in CS2 and how to fix it: Windows permissions, input device, voice key and in-game audio settings.
If your teammates cannot hear you, the problem is almost always in one of four places: Windows, Steam, CS2 settings or the voice key.
🔧 1. Windows permissions
Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone.
Enable "Microphone access" and "Let desktop apps access your microphone".
🎙️ 2. Default device
Settings → System → Sound → Input — select your microphone.
Check that the volume bar moves when you speak.
📌 3. CS2 settings
Settings → Audio → Voice.
Voice chat: enabled.
Input device: your microphone (not "default" if you have several).
Click "Test microphone" and make sure the meter reacts.
⌨️ 4. Push-to-talk key
By default you talk while holding K. Check or rebind it in Settings → Keyboard / Mouse → Communication → Voice chat. Via the console:
bind "k" "+voicerecord"
🎯 5. Steam
Steam → Settings → Voice — select the same microphone and test it.
⚠️ If it still does not work
Disable exclusive mode for the microphone: Sound control panel → Recording → Properties → Advanced.
Check whether players or the server have muted you.
