Setting up Discord for CS2
How to set up Discord so it does not interfere with CS2: overlay, hardware acceleration, push-to-talk, noise suppression and attenuation.
Discord is great for team chat, but the wrong settings can lower FPS or make the game harder to hear.
🔧 Overlay
User Settings → Game Overlay — turn the overlay off if you do not use it. It can cause FPS drops.
🖥️ Hardware acceleration
Settings → Advanced → Hardware Acceleration — if CS2 stutters while Discord is open, try turning it off and restarting Discord.
🎙️ Voice and sound
Input mode: Push to Talk — nobody hears you until you press the key, so there are no mouse and keyboard clicks on air.
Noise suppression — turn it on if your microphone is noisy.
Attenuation — turn it off or set it very low, otherwise Discord lowers the game volume whenever someone speaks.
🎯 Push-to-talk key
Choose a key that CS2 does not use, such as a mouse side button. Make sure it does not clash with the in-game voice key.
⚠️ Tip
If you play with your team on Discord, disable in-game voice chat or mute your teammates in CS2 so you do not hear them twice.
