If old binds, sensitivity or crosshair come back after every CS2 restart, the game cannot save settings or something overwrites them.

🔧 1. Steam Cloud

Steam Cloud sometimes restores an old version of your settings.

  • Steam → right-click CS2 → Properties → General → temporarily disable Steam Cloud.

  • Set up the game, close it and launch it again.

  • Once settings stick, you can turn the cloud back on.

📁 2. Read-only files

Open the folder:

Steam\userdata\YOUR_ID\730\local\cfg

Right-click cs2_user_convars_0_slot0.vcfg and cs2_user_keys_0_slot0.vcfg → Properties → untick "Read-only".

🛡️ 3. Controlled folder access

In Windows Security → Ransomware protection, "Controlled folder access" may be on. It stops games from writing files. Add cs2.exe to the allowed apps.

📌 4. autoexec.cfg

If your autoexec contains old values, they are applied on every launch. Update the autoexec or remove extra commands.

⚠️ Multiple accounts

If several Steam accounts have logged in on the PC, userdata has several folders. Settings are saved in the folder of the account you play on.
