Prefiring and holding angles in CS2
How to hold an angle properly, place your crosshair, prefire and choose positions in CS2 to win more duels.
Most duels in CS2 are won not by the fastest mouse, but by the player whose crosshair was already in the right spot.
🎯 Crosshair placement
Keep your crosshair at head level at all times — while running, peeking and waiting.
Place it at the edge of cover where the enemy can appear, not in the middle of a corridor.
The closer your crosshair is to where the enemy appears, the less you need to move the mouse.
🔧 Holding an angle
A far angle (offangle or long position) gives you more reaction time because the enemy appears on your screen more slowly.
A close angle near a wall can surprise the enemy, but it is riskier.
After a kill or a shot, change position — the enemy now knows where you are.
📌 Prefire
A prefire means shooting at a spot where an enemy is almost certainly standing, before you see them.
Use it on common positions that enemies often take.
Start shooting a split second before you get line of sight.
Practice prefires on Workshop maps (the Yprac Prefire series).
⚠️ Mistakes
Peeking without info when the enemy may be holding the angle.
Re-peeking the same angle after you have already shown yourself.
Crosshair pointed at the floor while running.
