Pings and radio in CS2: communicating without a microphone
How to place map pings in CS2, use radio commands and give teammates info without voice chat.
Not everyone has a microphone, and not everyone wants to talk. CS2 lets you pass info to your team with pings and radio commands.
📍 Ping
Aim at a spot and press the ping key — by default the middle mouse button (mouse wheel click).
Teammates see the marker on screen and on the radar.
If you aim at an enemy, the ping shows their position.
📻 Radio commands
CS2 has a radio menu with ready phrases: "Cover me", "Enemy spotted", "Need backup", "Affirmative" and others.
You can find and rebind the radio keys in Settings → Keyboard / Mouse → Communication.
🔧 Rebinding the ping
Open Settings → Keyboard / Mouse → Communication and pick a ping key if your mouse wheel is already used, for example for jumping.
🎯 When it helps
Showing where an enemy shot from — faster than explaining.
Marking where you are throwing a smoke or where the bomb is.
Playing with teammates who do not share your language.
⚠️ Tip
Do not spam pings — teammates will start ignoring them. Ping only when it means something.
