How to mute a player or disable voice chat in CS2

Toxic players and noise in voice chat break your focus. CS2 has several ways to deal with them.

🔧 Mute one player

• During a match, hold Tab (scoreboard).

• Click the right mouse button to get a cursor.

• Click the player's name and choose "Mute".

The mute lasts until the end of the match.

📌 Useful commands

cl_mute_enemy_team 1
cl_mute_all_but_friends_and_party 1
voice_enable 0

• cl_mute_enemy_team 1 — do not hear or see chat from the enemy team.

• cl_mute_all_but_friends_and_party 1 — hear only friends and people in your lobby.

• voice_enable 0 — turn voice chat off completely. To restore: voice_enable 1.

🎯 Voice volume

In Settings → Audio → Voice you can lower voice chat volume without turning it off.

⚠️ Remember

• If a player is abusive or griefing, do not just mute them — report them from the scoreboard too.

• Turning voice off also means you miss useful calls from teammates — mute individual players when possible.
