How to turn off or adjust music in CS2

Music in CS2 can drown out footsteps or simply get annoying. Each type of music has its own setting.

🔧 Where to set it

Settings → Audio → Music. There are separate volume sliders for different situations.

📌 What you can adjust

• Main menu music — plays in the menu, does not affect gameplay.

• Round start and end music — lower it if it distracts you.

• MVP music — plays when a player becomes the round MVP.

• Bomb 10-second warning — a music cue that 10 seconds remain before the explosion. Players often keep it — it tells you if a CT can still defuse without a kit.

• Death / spectating music — while you are dead.

🎯 Recommendation

• Set menu and MVP music to zero or minimum.

• Keep the 10-second warning on.

• Keep the overall game volume where footsteps are clear.

⚠️ Tip

A music kit only changes how the music sounds, not game sounds. It gives no advantage and does not mask footsteps if music volume is low.
