CS2 on Mac, Linux and Steam Deck: can you play?
Which systems CS2 runs on: Windows, Linux and Steam Deck support, the situation with macOS and options for Mac owners.
CS2 is officially released for Windows and Linux. Other systems are more complicated.
🐧 Linux
CS2 has a native Linux version — it runs through Steam without emulation.
It uses the Vulkan graphics API.
Performance depends on drivers: keep your GPU drivers up to date.
🎮 Steam Deck
The Steam Deck runs SteamOS (Linux), so CS2 runs on it.
You will need low graphics settings for comfortable play.
Connect a mouse and keyboard — playing CS2 on sticks is very awkward.
🍎 macOS
CS2 does not support macOS. There is no Mac version like CS:GO had.
Options: cloud gaming, or installing Windows on Intel Macs via Boot Camp.
Boot Camp is not available on Macs with Apple chips (M1 and newer).
