M4A4 and M4A1-S recoil in CS2: which to choose and how to shoot
The difference between the M4A4 and M4A1-S in CS2, how to control their recoil and which rifle to pick as CT.
As CT you equip one of two rifles in your loadout: the M4A4 or the M4A1-S. Both are easier to control than the AK-47, but each has its own style.
📌 Comparison
M4A4: 30-round magazine, high fire rate. Better for sprays and retakes.
M4A1-S: 20 rounds, silencer, very accurate with less recoil. Enemies do not see its tracers and shots are quieter. Better for taps and holding positions.
🔧 Recoil
The first 8–10 bullets go up — pull your mouse down, more smoothly than with the AK-47.
After that the M4A4 moves right, then left. The M4A1-S moves sideways less and for a shorter time.
The M4A1-S forgives mistakes; the M4A4 needs more practice but gives more bullets.
🎯 How to choose
You play retakes and like spraying — M4A4.
You hold angles, tap and play long range — M4A1-S.
Choose in Inventory → Loadout → CT → Rifles.
⚠️ Practice
Same as with the AK: sv_cheats 1, sv_infinite_ammo 1 on a bot map and spray at a wall. Practice the rifle you have equipped.
