How to boost FPS in CS2 on a low-end PC
Proven ways to increase FPS in CS2 on a weak computer or laptop: game settings, drivers, Windows and background apps.
CS2 on Source 2 is more demanding than CS:GO. Even on a weak PC you can get playable FPS if you go through every step below.
🔧 1. Game settings
Resolution: 1280×960 or 1024×768.
All detail options — Low, Ambient Occlusion — Disabled.
MSAA: None.
FidelityFX Super Resolution: "Performance" or "Balanced" — a big FPS boost at the cost of sharpness.
Display Mode: Fullscreen.
📌 2. Laptops
Play with the charger plugged in.
In NVIDIA/AMD settings, assign CS2 to the dedicated GPU, not integrated graphics.
In Windows, choose the "Best performance" power mode.
🖥️ 3. System
Update your graphics driver from the NVIDIA, AMD or Intel website.
Close your browser, Discord overlay, launchers and recording software.
Install the game on an SSD — it removes loading hitches and stutters.
Make sure XMP/EXPO is enabled for your RAM in BIOS.
🎯 4. Launch options
-high
Raises the game's process priority. Most old CS:GO options (such as -threads) do nothing in CS2 — do not add them.
⚠️ Check temperatures
If FPS drops after 10–15 minutes of play, your CPU or GPU is probably overheating. Clean the dust out and replace the thermal paste.
