How to improve your reaction time in CS2
What affects reaction speed in CS2 and what actually helps: sleep, warm-up, hardware, crosshair placement and training.
Reaction speed differs between people, but in CS2 far more factors affect it than you might think. Many of them can be improved.
😴 Your condition
Sleep is the biggest factor. After a sleepless night your reactions are noticeably worse.
Fatigue and hunger lower focus.
Breaks: after 2–3 hours of play reactions drop — take a pause.
🖥️ Hardware and settings
A high refresh rate monitor (144 Hz+) shows the enemy sooner.
Low latency: NVIDIA Reflex, fullscreen, no V-Sync.
High, stable FPS.
🎯 Game skills
Crosshair placement: if your crosshair is already at head level, you need to react less.
Anticipation: knowing where an enemy will appear makes you react faster.
This often matters more than "raw" reaction.
🔧 Training
Workshop maps with popping targets (Reflex/Fast Aim).
A 10–15 minute warm-up before matches.
⚠️ Tip
Do not chase online reaction test scores. In CS2 the winner is the one with better positioning who knows earlier where the enemy is.
