CS2 game modes: Premier, Competitive, Wingman and more
The differences between CS2 modes: Premier, Competitive, Wingman, Casual, Deathmatch and Arms Race. Where to rank up and how to practice.
CS2 has several official modes. Each fits a different goal — from ranked matches to warming up.
🏆 Premier
Ranked 5v5 with a CS Rating (a number instead of a rank icon).
Before the match, teams take turns banning maps from the competitive pool.
Requires Prime.
🎯 Competitive
5v5 where you choose the maps yourself.
You get a separate rank for each map.
Good for playing your favorite maps.
👥 Wingman
2v2 on small maps or parts of maps.
Short matches, great for practicing duels and clutches.
🎮 Casual
More players, relaxed economy rules and no ranks.
Good for learning maps.
🔫 Deathmatch
Instant respawn, no rounds. The best mode for an aim warm-up.
🥇 Arms Race
You get a new weapon after every kill. The first player to get a kill with the final weapon — the knife — wins.
⚠️ Tip
Play 10–15 minutes of Deathmatch before a Premier or Competitive match — you will start the game already warmed up.
