How to play eco rounds and anti-ecos in CS2
How to win rounds with pistols against rifles and how not to lose when the enemy is on an eco. Tactics for both sides.
An eco round is when a team has almost no money and plays with pistols. Winning one is hard but possible, while losing to an eco is a painful mistake.
💡 How to play an eco
Stick together. Five pistols on one spot are more dangerous than five lone players across the map.
Close the distance. Pistols are strong up close — hold corners and short-range positions.
Look for weapons. Every kill is a chance to pick up a rifle.
Use surprise: a rush, an unusual position, playing off timings.
If the round is lost, do not give up immediately — even one kill and a picked-up rifle helps your economy.
🛡️ How to play an anti-eco
Do not lose your weapon. Every rifle the enemy picks up is a gift to their economy.
Keep your distance. Rifles are stronger at medium and long range — do not get up close.
Do not peek close angles alone.
Use SMGs on anti-ecos if you can afford them — they earn more per kill.

Relaxing against pistols. Teams on an eco often play more aggressively than usual — be ready for it.
