How to disable auto weapon switch on pickup in CS2

By default, CS2 can switch you to a new weapon as soon as you pick it up. In a fight this is dangerous: you lose time on the draw animation.

🔧 In the settings

• Open Settings → Game → Item.

• Find "Switch to weapon on pickup" and set it to "No".

📌 Via the console

cl_autowepswitch 0

• 0 — the weapon is picked up, but you keep holding your current one.

• 1 — automatically switch to the picked-up weapon.

🎯 Related controls

• +use (E by default) — pick up a weapon manually.

• G — drop the weapon in your hands.

⚠️ Tip

Add cl_autowepswitch 0 to autoexec.cfg so it does not reset after an update.
