How to open the console in CS2 and useful commands

The console in CS2 lets you change settings quickly, connect to servers and create binds. It is disabled by default.

🔧 How to enable the console

• Open Settings → Game.

• Set "Enable Developer Console (~)" to "Yes".

• In game, press the ~ key (tilde, left of the 1 key).

If the key does not work, open Settings → Keyboard / Mouse → UI and assign another key to "Toggle Console".

📌 Useful commands

fps_max 0
connect IP:PORT
retry
disconnect
status
quit

• fps_max 0 — removes the FPS limit. You can also set a number, e.g. fps_max 400.

• connect IP:PORT — connect to a server by address.

• retry — reconnect to the last server.

• disconnect — leave the server.

• status — information about the server and players.

• quit — close the game.

• volume — master volume (from 0 to 1).

• r_cleardecals — removes blood and bullet marks from walls.

⚠️ Tips

• Tab in the console completes a command, and the ↑ and ↓ arrows scroll through history.

• find word lists every command containing that word, e.g. find radar.
