CS2 stores settings in several files rather than one. Once you know where they are, you can back them up and restore everything in a minute.

📌 Personal settings and binds

They are in the Steam folder:

Steam\userdata\YOUR_ID\730\local\cfg
  • cs2_user_convars_0_slot0.vcfg — sens, crosshair, radar and other settings.

  • cs2_user_keys_0_slot0.vcfg — all key binds.

  • cs2_video.txt — graphics settings.

YOUR_ID is a numeric folder. If there are several, use the one that contains a 730 folder.

🖥️ Machine-specific settings

Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg

This folder holds cs2_machine_convars.vcfg and your autoexec.cfg if you created one.

💾 How to back up

  • Close CS2.

  • Copy the 730\local\cfg folder and your autoexec.cfg somewhere safe (a USB drive or cloud storage).

  • To restore, close the game and copy the files back, replacing the existing ones.

⚠️ Tip

Always make a copy before reinstalling Windows or the game — that way you keep your binds and crosshair.
