How well you plant and defuse decides rounds. You need to know the exact timings.
⏱️ Key numbers
Bomb timer: 40 seconds after the plant.
Plant: about 3 seconds, during which you cannot shoot.
Defuse without a kit: 10 seconds.
Defuse with a kit: 5 seconds.
🔧 Planting (T)
Before planting, check or smoke off the angles you could be shot from.
Plant where your team can comfortably hold the bomb after the plant.
Do not stand next to the bomb after planting — take a post-plant position.
🛡️ Defusing (CT)
Buy a defuse kit ($400) — it gives your team a chance to defuse even at the last moment.
With less than 10 seconds left, you cannot make it without a kit.
The defuse is cancelled if you release E or switch weapons.
🎯 Fake defuse
Start defusing and immediately release E. The enemy hears it and peeks to stop you — and you are ready to shoot.
⚠️ Tip
Listen to the bomb beeps: they get faster closer to the explosion. Experienced players can time it without the timer.
