How to check if a player has a VAC ban
Where to see VAC and game bans for any player on Steam and CS2, and what these marks mean.
Before trading or playing with a stranger, it is worth checking whether they have any bans. It takes a couple of seconds.
🔧 Via the Steam profile
Open the player's Steam profile (from friends, the scoreboard or a link).
If the account has bans, there is red text on the right side of the profile, for example:
1 VAC ban on record | Info
1 game ban on record | Info
Next to it you see how many days have passed since the last ban.
📌 What the marks mean
VAC ban — a ban by Valve's anti-cheat for using cheats. It is permanent in the game where it was issued.
Game ban — a ban issued by the game itself (for example, from reports and the Overwatch system in CS:GO/CS2).
Community ban / Trade ban — restrictions on Steam Community or trading.
🎯 Good to know
The mark is visible to everyone, even if the profile is private.
A VAC ban in another game does not stop someone from playing CS2, but it shows on the profile.
If there are no bans, the text simply is not there.
⚠️ Tip
Before a big trade, also check the account's join date and level: a new account with no games or friends often belongs to a scammer.
