How to change your name and clan tag in CS2
How to change your CS2 name through your Steam profile and how to set a clan tag from a Steam group.
Your CS2 name comes from your Steam profile, so you change it in Steam, not in the game.
🔧 How to change your name
In Steam, click your name in the top right → Profile.
Click Edit Profile.
Change Profile Name and click Save.
Restart CS2 — the new name will appear in game.
📌 Limits
You can change your name as often as you like. Your past names are visible to others on your profile.
Do not use offensive names — they lead to reports and restrictions.
🏷️ Clan tag
A clan tag is a short prefix before your name, like [TAG] Name. It comes from a Steam group.
Join a Steam group or create your own and set a tag in the group settings.
In CS2, open Settings → Game and find the clan tag option.
Pick the group from the list — the tag appears on the scoreboard.
⚠️ Tip
Before a tournament or a match on a third-party server, check the rules: some projects require names without special characters or ads.
