Which resolution to use in CS2
Comparing CS2 resolutions: 1920×1080, stretched 1280×960 and 1024×768. Pros, cons and what to pick for your PC.
Resolution affects three things: FPS, enemy model size and field of view. There is no perfect option — choose what fits you.
📌 Popular options
1920×1080 (16:9) — the sharpest image and the widest view. Needs a stronger PC.
1280×960 stretched (4:3) — wider models, higher FPS. The most popular choice among pros.
1024×768 stretched (4:3) — even more FPS, but a noticeably blurrier image.
1280×1024 (5:4) — a middle option for those who find 4:3 too stretched.
🎯 What to choose
Strong PC and you value clarity → 1920×1080.
Average PC or used to it from CS:GO → 1280×960 stretched.
Weak PC, FPS below your monitor's refresh rate → 1024×768.
🔧 How to change it
Settings → Video → Aspect Ratio and Resolution. For stretched 4:3, also enable scaling in your graphics driver (NVIDIA or AMD).
⚠️ Tip
Play on a new resolution for at least a few days before deciding. The first matches after a change almost always feel strange.
